Sun Damage and Brown Spots

Living in Arizona can be especially hard on our skin due to the intense sun and heat. Sun protection is vital to not only preventing skin cancer, but a strong contributing factor to how quickly and gracefully we age. Where does the damage begin? Our skin is protected by melanin, which is the primary source of its color. Too much melanin, known as hyper-pigmentation, creates brown spots on our skin. If our skin has too little melanin, it’s known as hypo-pigmentation, frequently appearing as white or pale patches. When these conditions arise, they can begin concentrating in one particular area or often throughout any area of our body that is exposed to the damaging UVA/UVB rays of the sun.

Commonly known as “age spots”, or “brown spots”, the concentrated melanin leaves the skins appearance to appear weathered, fragile and aging. There are many non-invasive treatment options that we offer at our aesthetic spa in Tucson, Arizona. Intense Pulsed Light is one of the leading and most effective treatments for the removal of brown spots.  Not all brown spots are the same, that is why a proper evaluation with a registered nurse will help determine the best treatment plan for your condition. Other laser based treatments are available and we treat all skin types.

We use a variety of options to treat sun damage. Below are just a few choices to learn more about.
