Rest & Rejuvenate Your Skin

thG4JY39G6There is a lot of information out there for those of us who are passionate about skincare, in fact, it can be overwhelming. The products we use and the treatments we seek are all vitally important to the health and appearance of our skin.

 

Simple, yet often overlooked are the following contributing factors to achieving healthy, radiant skin all day long.

Get your beauty sleep is not just a term; it’s critical to the overall health of our body, minds and, of course, our skin.  Lack of sleep can cause under eye puffiness, dark circles, loss of elasticity and wrinkles. We need proper rest to restore and repair our skin’s ability to generate new cell growth. To help reduce the visible signs of aging aim for 7-9 hours a night of restful sleep.

Recommendations: Turn off the TV at least one or two hours before you go to bed. Read, sip chamomile tea or listen to calming music.  Magnesium is also an excellent supplement to reduce unwanted stress and calm our body to ensure proper rest. 

How are you sleeping? Face up, face down, on your side? Pay attention to the force placed on your skin during the night. If you are a side sleeper, this can place significant pressure on the side of your face you sleep on most.  Your skin collapses and folds, leaving deep creases and breaking down the elasticity over time.

Recommendations:  We love the “Save my Face” pillow. It has many sleeping benefits, but the one we like most is the prevention of accelerated aging by suspending your face during the night.  Our clients are loving this unique option!

Look at your routine – Do you fall into bed at night and forgo the use of your skin care products?  Are the products you selected giving you the results you desire?  Keeping your skin clean and free of impurities greatly diminishes accumulating bacteria and helps to restore collagen levels overnight.

Hydration is key for those with dry, or combination skin. Proper hydration is one of the best ways to eliminate the signs of aging by reducing fine lines, wrinkles and smoothing our overall appearance.
