Kybella Before and After
What is submental fullness?
Submental fullness under the chin, often called a double chin, is an issue for nearly 68% of adults. A double chin often disrupts facial symmetry and results in an older and heavier look. Submental fullness affects men and women of all ages and is caused by a variety of issues including weight gain, genetics, and normal aging. Double chins tend to be extremely resistant to diet and exercise so surgical procedures were the only solution prior to Kybella.
What is Kybella?
Kybella is composed of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into fat pockets under the chin, Kybella causes the rapid destruction and absorption of fat cells and helps to prevent future fat accumulation in that area. Kybella only targets fat cells and does not affect other cells or tissue.
How are Kybella treatments performed?
After cleansing your skin and applying a topical anesthetic for improved comfort, we precisely mark the injection points on your skin. Every person is unique so the number and placement of the injection points are customized for each client. The injections are made with a very fine needle and only take five or ten minutes to complete. There is no downtime so you may return to your normal daily activities immediately.
How many treatments are required?
Most clients experience visible results with two to four treatments spaced about one month apart. Some people may require up to six treatments. The fat reduction is permanent so no additional treatments are required unless submental fullness redevelops.
What are the side effects?
Swelling and bruising, redness, irritation, tenderness, and areas of hardness are possible at the treatment site and usually resolve within a few days.
